It was a showcase of innovative brilliance from the different Divisions and Programs as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD Field Office Caraga held its 1st Knowledge Fair, yesterday, December 10, 2024, at the Pavilion at Watergate, Butuan City.

The activity, which became a venue for the presentation of the different Knowledge Management initiatives/applications in the Field Office, is a platform for participants to share knowledge and insights and promote knowledge sharing, networking, and collaboration among DSWD divisions, sections, and units, together with invited partners from the LGUs and National Line Agencies.

DSWD Field Office Caraga Regional Director Mari-Flor Dollaga thanked the Knowledge Management Team, through the Capacity Building Section, for holding the first ever knowledge fair in the Field Office. Dir. Dollaga emphasized that the said initiatives have been contributory to the success of the Field Office, and promised to continue to support workers who develop knowledge products, improving services of the Field Office.

Through the different knowledge products/initiatives, the Field Office is able to enhance the institutional capacity of the different Divisions/Sections/Units/Programs and improve business processes and information flow through quality management, process improvement, and benchmarking, which has ensured quality services to clients and beneficiaries of the programs and services of the Agency.

The activity was also attended by keynote speaker, DSWD Assistant Secretary for Standards and Capacity Building Group, Asec. Janet Armas, who joined via online platform. In her message, Asec. Armas recognized the efforts of Field Office Caraga in coming up with initiatives that have also been captured by the Central Office and even by other Field Offices. She said that it was welcoming to have worked with the Field Office who have contributed so much to the Department’s interests.

During the presentation, guests from identified LGUs and from DICT were able to critique the knowledge products. As reactors, the guests praised the Field Office for achieving such a feat, especially in the development of systems/applications that enhanced service delivery. The guest, and all the participants were also able to have a first-hand experience of how these systems work through an actual demonstration by the innovators.
