The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga continues to implement the Walang Gutom: 2027 – Food Stamp Program with the aim to combat hunger and promote food security, with a series of food voucher redemptions conducted across multiple municipalities in Surigao del Norte on December 3 – 5, 2024.
Beneficiaries in the municipalities of Placer, Bacuag, Claver, Gigaquit, Alegria, Mainit, San Francisco, Gigaquit, Socorro, Pilar, Sen Benito, Del Carmen, Tagana-an, Sison, Malimono, and Surigao City, we’re able to redeem their Php3,000 worth of allocation through the program.
A total of 828 families were able to enjoy the benefits of the program through the monthly redemption, which also aims to promote nourishment and food security to food- poor families.
Coordinated efforts with Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) and other local partners ensured that logistical challenges were promptly addressed. EBT cards were also collected for re-tapping to streamline future transactions.
The Walang Gutom: 2027 Program remains steadfast in its goal to ensure that no one is left behind in the fight against hunger.
