The Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga held a city-wide project turnover on February 11, 2024, in Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur.
Four SLP associations from Brgy. Poblacion, Taglatawan, Calaitan, and Villa Ondayon were awarded livelihood projects totaling PHP 1,920,000. The Abot Kaya SLPA and Palamboon Taglatawan each received a grant of PHP 510,000 to support their consumer goods store ventures. Meanwhile, Calaitan 4Ps Farmers SLPA and Gulayan sa Villa Ondayon, both focusing on vegetable production as part of their entrepreneurial efforts, were granted with 450,000.00 php apiece.
“I never imagined I would be chosen as one of the recipients of such a remarkable program. It is an honor to be part of this initiative, and I am both excited and humbled to embrace the responsibilities, opportunities, and challenges that this project may bring. I, together with the members of this association, commit to making the most of this opportunity and contributing to its success,” said Warlito Daugdaug, president of the Abot Kaya Poblacion SLP association.
Furthermore, he emphasized the profound impact of the program on both its participants and the broader community. He noted that the program has not only empowered individuals by providing them with valuable skills and resources, but it has also contributed to the overall economic growth of the area.
“This project offers us the chance to grow not only financially but also personally. The responsibilities it incurs foster individual development, empowering us to reach new heights. Additionally, this livelihood opportunity strengthens social bonds and promotes a deeper sense of unity and collaboration within our community, creating an environment where we can all thrive together,” he added.
