In anticipation of the 15th cycle implementation this June 2025, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga’s Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) is actively conducting region-wide social preparation activities.
These initiatives are crucial to ensure the smooth and effective rollout of the SFP with targeted interventions to address undernutrition, promote parental involvement, and ensure the program reaches those most in need.
SFP teams, composed of Project Development Officers (PDOs) and Nutritionists-Dietitians, have carried out the following:
Lobbying with BLGUs. Engaging Barangay Local Government Units (BLGUs) based on program monitoring, focusing on the preparedness of Child Development Centers (CDCs) — including WASH facilities, logistics, food storage, cooking equipment, and eating utensils.
Advocating in Committee Hearings. Presenting findings to advocate for increased support, including additional budget augmentation for feeding programs and essential equipment like refrigerators.
Orienting on MC 26-2024. Conducting sessions on Memorandum Circular (MC) 26 series of 2024 (New SFP guidelines) for Child Development Workers and LGU stakeholders.
Visiting WE CARE Beneficiaries. Assessing the progress of current beneficiaries under the WE CARE program.
Conducting Operation Timbang and Nutrition Counseling: Measuring child nutrition status in CDCs with high undernutrition rates, counseling parents, and evaluating potential inclusion in Project WE CARE.
These multifaceted efforts underscore DSWD Field Office Caraga’s commitment to optimizing the SFP’s impact on child development and nutritional well-being across the region.
