SAN AGUSTIN, Surigao del Sur – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through its ‘Pag-Abot’ (Reaching Out) Program, provided Php 80,000 in livelihood assistance to beneficiaries who were recently reintegrated from Manila back to their hometown in San Agustin, Surigao del Sur, on April 22, 2025.
This assistance is part of the DSWD’s ongoing efforts to support individuals and families who experienced hardship while living on the streets of Manila and now desire to rebuild their lives in their home province.
With the provided financial aid, the beneficiaries are expected to start small-scale businesses, marking a significant step towards self-sufficiency and sustainable living.
Assistant Regional Director for Operations (ARDO) Paul Parajes stated, “This livelihood assistance is a way to help improve the situation of our beneficiaries. We are hoping that in close coordination with the local government unit and the barangay, we can help them stay here and no longer feel the need to seek opportunities elsewhere.”
The local government of San Agustin is actively involved, ensuring continuous monitoring and coordination with the DSWD Field Office Caraga to guarantee the long-term support and well-being of the beneficiaries.
The Pag-Abot Program will continue its mission to identify and assist Caraga natives in Metro Manila and other major cities, aiming to strengthen their prospects within their own communities.
