BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga conducted a technical briefing on April 10–11, 2025, at the VCDU Prince Hotel to prepare Local Government Units (LGUs) for the upcoming transfer of funds under the Social Pension (SocPen) program. Attended by Senior Citizen Focal Persons from LGUs across the region, the session focused on the new payment modality.
Previously, the DSWD directly managed SocPen payouts for indigent senior citizens. However, in line with directives from Secretary Rex Gatchalian and recommendations from the Commission on Audit (COA), the responsibility for disbursing these funds will now be transferred to the LGUs.
