Lingig, Surigao del Sur — The first payout for Project LAWA at BINHI was successfully held on April 22 in Lingig, Surigao del Sur.
Approximately 350 partner beneficiaries each received ₱7,700 as compensation for their participation and contributions to the project.
Project LAWA at BINHI—short for Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency for Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished—aims to strengthen community resilience to climate impacts, particularly those related to water scarcity and food insecurity.
The project is spearheaded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, with support from the provincial and local government units of Surigao del Sur.
This payout marks one of many efforts to recognize and compensate partner beneficiaries for their involvement in project activities such as community vegetable gardening, fruit tree growing, the construction of small farm reservoirs, tilapia farming, and other initiatives that promote environmental sustainability and community livelihood.
