Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga – Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY), conducted its annual Sportsfest this May 2025, bringing together children in conflict with the law (CICLs) and center staff in a celebration of sportsmanship, self-discovery, and unity.
The activity featured a variety of events including a cheerdance competition, basketball, volleyball, and table tennis. The friendly competition aimed to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and positive social interaction among the youth.
What made this year’s Sportsfest even more meaningful was the participation of RRCY personnel—social workers, house parents, administrative staff, and security personnel—who actively joined the games and supported the youth throughout the event.
In her message to the participants, Ms. Jessie Catherine Aranas, Chief of the Protective Services Division, emphasized the value of sports in personal growth.
“This activity is an opportunity for you to learn more about yourselves, to discover what you’re good at, and to realize what more you can do,” she said, addressing the CICLs. “Whether in sports or in skills-based activities here at the center, we hope you find the tools that will help shape you into transformative leaders in society.”
The RRCY Sportsfest served as both a recreational outlet and a developmental milestone for the youth—an experience that encouraged discipline, resilience, and hope for a better future.
