BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through its Protective Services Division – Sectoral Unit, is conducting a three-day training on the Comprehensive Intervention Against Gender-Based Violence (CIAGV) for Local Social Welfare and Development Officers (LSWDOs) from May 28 to 30, 2025.
The capacity-building activity aims to strengthen the knowledge, skills, and coordinated response of LSWDOs in addressing gender-based violence (GBV) at the local level. It forms part of the DSWD’s continuing commitment to protect and promote the rights and welfare of vulnerable sectors, particularly women and children.
In her opening message, DSWD Caraga Regional Director Mari-Flor Dollaga expressed gratitude to the participants and partners, emphasizing the collective responsibility in addressing GBV.
“Gender-based violence continue to exist, sometimes hidden, sometimes normalized, or even unreported. Kamo, Women Focal Persons, kita nga mga advocate of women’s rights ang isa sa una makadungog sa ilang mga tingog. Ug usab, kita nga mga empowered women ang una makalihok ug makabuhat og kausaban sa kinabuhi sa atong kaubang kababaehan.
Thank you for ensuring that the people, including women, would feel our grit in making our promise a reality, that Bawat Pamilya ay Mahalaga sa Bagong Pilipinas,” Dir. Dollaga said.
The training covers seven modules, with the first three being tackled on the opening day: Gender Matters, Understanding Gender-Based Violence, and Perspectives, Approaches, and Principles in Addressing GBV.
