Sonny, a resident of Libjo in the Province of Dinagat Islands, expressed his gratitude after receiving livelihood assistance under the Pag-Abot Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga during the ceremonial turnover held on May 2, 2025.
Recently reintegrated from Manila, Sonny returned to his hometown in Libjo to start a new life. The assistance he received will be used to establish a piggery, which he hopes will become a source of sustainable livelihood.
The Pag-Abot Program is an initiative of DSWD aimed at helping individuals and families who have experienced life on the streets of major cities like Manila. The program offers opportunities for them to return to their home provinces and rebuild their lives in a more stable and dignified way.
“Thank you to DSWD. I hope they can help more individuals, especially children and the elderly on the streets who are in need,” Sonny said.
The local government of Libjo continues to support the program through regular monitoring and close coordination with DSWD Field Office Caraga to ensure that beneficiaries like Sonny receive long-term and sustainable assistance.
The Pag-Abot Program remains committed to identifying Caraganons living on the streets of Metro Manila and other major cities, with the goal of helping them return home and strengthen their future within their communities.
