The meeting was attended by GardenPH beneficiaries, representatives from the Municipal Agriculture Office, and the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) Caraga. The primary objective was to collaboratively craft a comprehensive five-year transition plan to ensure the sustained implementation of the project as it enters its final phase.
During the activity, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tubay develop a comprehensive five-year transition plan with the collaborative efforts. This strategic plan outlines the steps necessary for the LGU to fully assume responsibility for the program, ensuring its continuity and long-term impact in the community.
Sixty-year-old Camilo Agular from Tubay expressed his gratitude to the Community GardenPH project for equipping him with valuable farming techniques.
“The Community GardenPH project has helped me tremendously. Before joining the program, my income was very limited. But after attending the sessions, I learned various farming techniques that significantly improved my skills and productivity. I applied everything I learned to my backyard garden, and as a result, my income has increased. I am truly grateful for the knowledge and support I received through CGPH,’’ said Aguilar.
Tubay has played a pioneering role in the program, serving as the pilot LGU for the Mindanao Cluster since 2023. Over the past two years, 20 dedicated farmers have actively participated as project beneficiaries, contributing their time, knowledge, and effort to the project’s success.
The Community GARDEnPH is a community-driven development initiative that seeks to help mitigate hunger through community organization and mindset transformation, inspired by the Saemaul Undong (SU) principles of diligence, self-help, and cooperation. The project requires the active engagement of beneficiaries, the Local Government Unit (LGU), government agencies, and other stakeholders.
