The Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) participants from the municipality of Tagbina, Surigao del Sur participated in the weeklong Community Volunteers’ Week 3.0 held from June 2 to 6, 2025.
The celebration commenced with Pagsibol: SLP Day 2k25, a vibrant and meaningful gathering that brought together SLP participants from across the municipality. The event served as a showcase of the program’s milestones and accomplishments in Tagbina, highlighting the transformative impact of sustainable livelihood initiatives on individuals and communities.
The SLP participants were also able to exhibit and promote their locally made products—highlighting their skills and creativity. In addition, they also underwent a Meat Processing Training, equipping them with additional livelihood skills aimed at expanding their income-generating opportunities and strengthening their entrepreneurial potential.
“We thank LGU Tagbina for conducting this meaningful activity that allowed us to come together, share our experiences, and showcase what we’ve accomplished through the program. We are also deeply grateful to DSWD-SLP for providing us with sustainable livelihood opportunities that continue to uplift our lives and help us build a better future for our families,” said Lambo Agri-farm Kahayagan SLP Association President Marisa Brade in an interview.
Furthermore, the local government unit of Tagbina, through its Special Programs Division, officially launched a coffee table book called “Lakaw” on June 6, 2025, during the Community Volunteers’ Day. This thoughtfully curated compilation documents the significant milestones, success stories, and best practices of SLP in the municipality. More than just a record of accomplishments, it stands as a powerful testament to the program’s transformative impact and serves as a lasting source of inspiration for sustaining and expanding livelihood initiatives within the community.
“We are truly grateful to the LGU of Tagbina for launching ‘Lakaw’—a meaningful and well-crafted publication that captures the milestones, success stories, and lasting impact of the Sustainable Livelihood Program in the municipality,” remarked Antonio Semporios, Jr., SLP Caraga Regional Partnership Officer.
“As a partner in advancing inclusive and sustainable development, we commend the local government for recognizing and amplifying the voices and achievements of our program participants. This initiative not only honors their journey but also inspires continued collaboration and innovation in our shared goal of empowering communities,” he added.
To cap off the celebration, the event culminated with the Gawad Galay Awards, spearheaded by Tagbina Municipal Mayor Glaiza Jane Lanete. During the ceremony, numerous SLPAs were recognized and honored for their exemplary performance, including awards for Outstanding Compliance in Monitoring and Evaluation Reports, Highest Bank Savings, and other notable achievements.
This weeklong celebration honored dedication and invaluable contributions of community volunteers in fostering stronger, more resilient communities. Beyond showcasing the profound impact of volunteerism, the event did not only showcase the impact of volunteerism but also highlighted the collective efforts of various stakeholders in promoting inclusive development at the grassroots level.
