In the quiet coastal community where resources are scarce and dreams are often deferred, Reynalyn Tipolo Ganuhay stands as a beacon of hope and determination. As the eldest daughter of solo parent and 4Ps beneficiary Arlyn Ganuhay, Reynalyn grew up in a household where every peso counted. Following the death of their household head, the family’s only sources of income became the 4Ps grants and a modest pension, which were barely enough to meet their daily needs.

Yet, the weight of poverty never crushed Reynalyn’s spirit. Instead, it fueled her drive to succeed—not just for herself, but for her entire family. In 2024, she graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Secondary Education, Major in Science—a testament to her resilience and the unwavering support of her mother and siblings, who stood by her every step of the way.

Throughout her college years, Reynalyn immersed herself in purposeful participation, joining various organizations that helped shape her into the empowered woman she is today. As a staff writer for the Campus Press Club from 2021 to 2024, she shared school news through their Facebook page, honed her communication skills, and built lasting friendships. Her dedication earned her the “Journalist of the Year” award upon graduation.

She also became a member of the CTE Hymn Lyricists, contributing to the creation of a departmental hymn that continues to inspire students. Not only that, but her academic excellence led her to represent her department in their annual Quiz Bowl, where she emerged as 1st place during her 3rd year—a proud moment not just for her, but for her family and community.

Understanding her family’s financial challenges, Reynalyn took the initiative to apply for the CHED-Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES), becoming a scholar and receiving Php 30,000 per semester from her first year until graduation. This scholarship significantly lightened the financial burden on her family and made it possible for her to pursue her studies without interruption.

Beyond the campus, Reynalyn extended her participation to the community. She served as an active officer of Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT)—a PNP-led organization engaging the youth in awareness drives, seminars, tree planting, and coastal cleanups. These activities not only allowed her to contribute to community development but also built her leadership, confidence, and exposure to broader perspectives beyond their region.

With unyielding dedication, she enrolled in a review center for her Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) and was selected as one of the ten CBRC scholars. In May 2025, her efforts paid off—Reynalyn passed the LET and is now a licensed professional teacher.

Her commitment to service continues as she serves as an SK Kagawad in their barangay, proving that her story doesn’t end at graduation but begins a new chapter of giving back.

Reynalyn’s success story is not hers alone—it is also a reflection of the vital support system around her. The 4Ps program played a crucial role in sustaining her family during their most difficult years, ensuring that basic needs were met and enabling Reynalyn to focus on her dreams. Her mother’s strength, her siblings’ support, and her active participation in both school and community organizations were all stepping stones to her success.
