The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga transported around 9000 Family Food Packs (FFPs) intended for the island municipalities in Surigao del Norte last July 15, 2020.
The FFPs, amounting to PhP 3,077,820.00, were requested by the municipalities of Dapa, San Isidro, and Socorro, Surigao del Norte. Each municipality were augmented 3000 FFPs to help provide relief to families affected by the community quarantine due to Coronavirus Disease-2019 pandemic.
The Disaster Response Management Division spearheads the augmentation implementation. To date, a total of PhP 20,561,790.08 worth of food assistance were provided by the Field Office to atleast 23 Local Government Units (LGUs) namely; LGU of Butuan City, Jabonga, Las Nievas, Nasipit, Kitcharao, and Tubay, Agusan del Norte; Burgos, Bacuag, Claver, Sison, Malimono, Mainit, Del Carmen, Pilar, San Benito, Santa Monica, San Isidro, Dapa, Socorro, and Tubod, Surigao del Norte; Cagwait, San Agustin, and Tago, Surigao del Sur.
As of this time, the Field Office has 5,345 Family Food Packs available amounting to PhP 1,835,179.10. These are prepositioned in the field office’s rented warehouses in Surigao City and Butuan City.
Immediate relief is one of the many services of DSWD, as the Department upholds its mandate to provide social welfare to the vulnerable and disadvantaged members of society. With this, DSWD Field Office Caraga continues to coordinate and monitors the LGUs on their response and relief operations to ensure fast delivery of services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
