A total of 115 Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries in Jabonga, Agusan del Norte received their livelihood assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga region through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).
Director Minda B. Brigoli of DSWD Caraga and Mayor Jasmin Monton distributed the checks to beneficiaries, which amounted to Php 960,000.00 on September 23, 2013.
Vice Mayor Glicerio Monton Jr., Sangguniang Bayan members Rogelio Resultan Jr., Arturo Grana, Vicmar Tillo, Julie Ganot, MSWDO Editha Grana, DSWD Assistant Regional Director for Operations Mita Lim and Sustainable Livelihood Focal Person Roy Serdena witnessed the activity.
Director Brigoli challenged the beneficiaries to prove that they can do it by financing their needs when the Pantawid Pamilya cash grant is over.
Beneficiary Josephine Meras accepted the challenge and said they will use the money to its intended purpose and make their business ventures grow to improve their lives and pay loan religiously so that others could also avail of this assistance.
A beneficiary from the Indigenous Peoples (IP) in Jabonga, Diana Aydao, thanked the government for giving them the opportunity to be part of the program.
Earlier, 75 beneficiaries from Jabonga received their livelihood assistance from DSWD amounting to Php 735,000.00
The Sustainable Livelihood Program or SLP is a community-based capacity-building program aimed at improving the socio-economic status of its participants. It provides an interest and collateral-free loan to the beneficiaries.### (Social Marketing Unit)
