The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, in coordination with the Regional Inter-Agency Committee on Senior Citizens (RIAC-SC), organized the “Kalinga Para kay Lolo at Lola; a Gift-giving Activity”, on October 26, 2021 at Por Cristo Foundation Inc., Abilan, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.

The gift-giving activity is in line with the National Elderly Week Celebration 2021 with the theme, “MahALAGA sina Lolo at Lola Ngayong Pandemya”.

DSWD staff preparing the food items and hygiene kits to be turned over to Por Cristo Foundation Inc., as their chosen organization.

Together with the different partner agencies, DSWD led the turnover of food items – 6 packs of rice, 35 packs of milk powder, 5 boxes of Fita biscuits, 4 boxes of Corned Beef, and 3 boxes of Beef Loaf to the Foundation.

Aside from these, hygiene kits were also handed over, consisting of 60 packs of Diaper and Under Pads, 30 packs of detergent powder, 40 boxes of face masks and 8 gallons of alcohol.

Rev. Fr. Ronnie A. Licayan, Staff from Por Cristo Foundation Inc., and representatives from DSWD, DOH and Philhealth were all smiles during the turnover session.

Por Cristo Foundation Inc., is a non-government facility that houses abandoned elderlies. It provides services like shelter, food, medical, and other forms of services. As of the moment, there is a total of thirty-four (34) residents inside the facility.

DSWD, through the RIAC-SC will continue to work with the foundation, and provide whatever possible assistance it can give.#
