The Home For Girls (HFG) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, marked its 24th year of providing comprehensive services and rehabilitation for children victims of abuse.
The founding anniversary celebration took place at the HFG Compound, Brgy. Bonbon, Butuan City on November 22, 2021, carrying the theme, “HFG @ 24: Dedicated in Providing a Hand, a Heart, and a Home.”
A thanksgiving mass was offered inside the HFG Compound, followed by giving out of PRAISE and Service Awards, in recognition of the staff and houseparents’ exemplary performance and contribution to the 24 years in service at DSWD HFG.
“Even sa mga challenges, nagpabilin gihapon ta nga makanunayon sa atong kinasing-kasing nga serbisyo para sa atong mga bata nga ania sa HFG.”(Even the challenges, our heartfelt services remain for our children inside the HFG), Sweedie Grace Supapo, Nurse 1, DSWD Home For Girls, said in her acceptance speech.
DSWD HFG provides opportunities to children victims of child-abuse and exploitation. Provision of temporary shelter and alternative form of family care are made available for them.
Thus, a venue where children’s basic, educational, spiritual, psychosocial needs are met through trainings and orientations that contributes to the child’s total development.
In hopes of resolving traumas and restoring the children’s normal functioning, protective programs and services are also provided until such time they are ready to go back to the community and lead a normal life.
DSWD Home For Girls, with its promise to continue changing lives and provide interventions to children who has special needs, will also carry on in implementing its programs and services to the vulnerable sectors of the community.#
