After several days of trying to defy transportation challenges to and fro the islands, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga was finally able to initially augment a total of 10,000 Family Food Packs (FFPs) for the LGUs in Siargao and the Province of Dinagat Islands (PDI).

In close coordination with the Philippine Navy, the Department was able to transport 5,000 FFPs to Siargao (Navy vessel), and 5,000 FFPs were transported (Montenegro Shipping) to PDI on December 18, 2021 and are expected to have arrived in the islands December 19.. Packing of the additional goods are continuously done as of writing.

Furthermore, Field Office Caraga was thankful for the 48,000 incoming FFPs as relief augmentation from nearby Field Offices and from the National Resource Logistics Management Bureau (NRLMB); 7,000 from Field Office IX, 8,000 from Field Office XI, 8,000 from Field Office XII, and 25,000 FFPs from the NRLMB.

Aside from the FFPs augmented to the municipalities in Siargao and PDI, the Field Office has also started working with LGUs in Agusan del Norte and Surigao del Norte in the provision of FFPs to affected families.

DSWD will continue to provide augmentation support to the affected LGUs in the Region, and teams have been prepared to be augmented in the relief operations in the islands of Siargao and PDI.
