Jane Aninon, a resident of Purok 4C, Poblacion, Tagbina, Surigao del Sur, is just one of the many beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) whose life has a very successful story; a story worth sharing to inspire other people to never give up in life despite all the hardships.
Jane vowed to be with her husband Roldan Aninon for the rest of her life way back May 13, 2006 in Manila. The couple was blessed with four kids; Rhoda Jaye, 13, Rhea Joy, 15, Rold John, 17 and a 7-month-old baby girl.
Roldan worked as a taxi driver while Jane worked as a nail beautician. Everything was fine until they both decided to settle in Tagbina, Surigao del Sur because of the difficulty brought by the increasing demands of the city life and the growing size of their family. They’ve been faced with the rising prices of basic commodities, rent, electric and water bills, expensive medical needs, and means to achieve quality education; their earnings were not enough. Thus, May 12, 2014 the family left the city and chose to start anew in the province.
The life they had imagined to be simple, started roughly. The couple was able to build a house in a land owned by a friend. It is a house constructed with “amakan”, bamboo sticks, and nipa with two tiny rooms but that humble home is where dreams of a couple and of their children started.
Roldan found a job as a truck driver of a privately owned store with a monthly salary of Php 5,000 while Jane supports her husband through her acquired and learned talent of being a nail beautician. She’s quite really good at it. It was this job that brought her to know teachers, store owners, other professionals, neighbors, and friends.
The family was met with a tragic incident when Jheroskhine Aniňon, Roldan’s cousin died at an early age due to illness – she left 4 children during her death. It was this time, in 2016, that the couple decided to be the guardian of the orphaned children, since Jheroskhine’s husband left after his wife’s death. The process wasn’t done legally but it was the mother’s last words; to give her children to Jane’s care. The couple provided the children home, parent’s care, enrolled them to school and treated them as their own. It was five years ago when Sofia Marie 17, Ronald Jayson 12, Jake 9 and Jed 8 first came to their abode; looking uneasy and uncomfortable. As the time passed by, the children now call them “Ma” and “Pa”. As she states; her family became merrier in an instant yet along with this, is the struggle of providing for all their needs.
Year 2018, Jane’s faith was tested. She was given her greatest fear, to lose a loved one. It was the first time that her husband was confined in a hospital and was diagnosed with gastritis. Roldan was admitted for three days. Jane expressed, the illness doesn’t scare her since it’s curable, what frightens her was the thought of losing someone whom she had cherished.
In 2021, the couple lost their humble abode. Unfortunately, the owner of the land needs the area. It was not easy to let go of their home as Jane expressed, they need to start over again. The couple then started looking for a land bringing with them faith since they don’t have the penny. The couple believed there will be a place for them and by God’s grace; a churchmate offered them a piece of land to where they could rebuild their home. The couple re-used some of the materials from their old house. They now live in a comfortable residence, though made from light materials, and hopes to have their own home in the future.
Jane is blessed to have a responsible, loving and a Godly husband. She is also grateful with the character of her children; they’re respectful and God-fearing. As she expressed, they may not be able to easily provide the needs of their children but they are aspiring to make them good individuals.
Jane always had the desire to be included in the program. As she said, it is one of her prayers for years. The family is a dedicated Assembly of God church member and a Christian believer. To bring good life and education to their children is the couple’s ultimate goal and Pantawid Pamilya could aide them with that.
Presently, one of Jane’s prayers had been answered and she rejoices with a heart of thanksgiving. She had always believed in His ways and trusted that her time will come. Her household was one of the beneficiaries of Set 11 Replacement Households eligible for registration. Upon knowing this, she came to the 4Ps office with excitement and submitted complete documents. The grantee committed to put the opportunity into good use and is excited with what her household and the program could accomplish together.
Jane lives by faith and prayer, for her it is the purpose of living. With the current situation of the family, they don’t have the gold spoons obviously but they were bonded with His love and mercy and is blessed more than they deserved.#
