The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) – Zero Hunger Program and in partnership with the Department of Agriculture – National Dairy Authority (DA-NDA), facilitated a benchmarking activity and learning visit for the members of the Backyard Goat Raisers SLP Association at the Jolly Goat Dairy Farm in Dumalagan, Butuan City on July 27.
DSWD-SLP and DA-NDA organized the said activity to equip the association members with knowledge on how to manage a dairy goat farm, especially since the SLPA proposed to have Dairy Goat Production as their livelihood project.
Jolly Goat Dairy Farm Owner Engr. Anecito Bonpin served as the resource person and discussed the importance of dairy project and the process of milking.
Before the learning visit, participants attended various capacity-building activities such as project proposal preparation, leadership and organization development, and an orientation on the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty Program of the DSWD.
The Zero Hunger Program, a new program implemented under the DSWD-SLP, is a national-initiated partnership program aiming to provide poor and marginalized farmers with financial livelihood assistance, capacity-building, and skills training. Moreover, it promotes functional complementation of livelihood assistance from different Program Convergence Budgeting (PCB) partner agencies to achieve a common goal of uplifting our poor individuals and organizations.
