Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga Regional Director Mari-Flor A. Dollaga paid a courtesy visit  to the Local Government Units of San Isidro, Burgos, and Sta. Monica in the island of Siargao, Surigao del Norte province, and met with Mayor Lamberto Dominos Jr.,  Mayor Angie Bonono-Arcena, and Mayor Arwela Dolar, respectively, on February 7, 2023.

The visit transpired as Dir. Dollaga wanted to ensure the best possible implementation of DSWD’s programs and services in the said municipalities.

“Pasalamat gajud mi sa DSWD kay hamok gajud na tabang labina sa mga food items panahon sa Odette nakatabang gajud jaon (We are so grateful for DSWD for extending numerous help and services, particularly the food items during [typhoon] Odette, it did help a lot),” Mayor Lamberto expressed during the said visit.

The successful visit paved the way for Dir. Dollaga and Mayors Lamberto, Bonono-Arcena and Dolar were able to discuss issues and concerns regarding the Agency’s program implementations to ensure that the vulnerable sectors and communities are served by the Agency through its social welfare and social protection programs and services.

Also discussed during the meetings is the plan of the soon-to-rise Regional Warehouse in the municipality of Dapa, which will ensure a swift disaster response to all municipalities in Siargao Island.
