As the whole world celebrates the International Women’s Day, DSWD Fielde Office Caraga has taken time to highlight the importance, and impact of women in promoting social welfare and social justice, especially in the region, through different programs and activities.
The observance of the International Women’s Day (IWD) was a result of the organizing activities of women in the early 20th Century.
This practice paved the way for the annual celebration, which is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It is also a day to raise awareness about gender inequality and advocacy for women’s rights. The first IWD was celebrated in 1911 – since then it has become an important annual event, celebrated around the world.
With this, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga encourages all Caraganon to #EmbraceEquality in the family, community, and society, and take part in the celebration.
