Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office Caraga, as chair of RIACAT-VAWC conducts WOMENtum 2023 on March 21, at the Pavilion Watergate Hotel, Butuan City.

WOMENtum is the shortened term for Women in Momentum which symbolizes women as a “force that keeps an object moving.” This is an activity initiated by the Regional Inter-Agency Committee Against Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children (RIACAT-VAWC) Caraga in 2018 in observance of the National Women’s Month Celebration.

This activity serves as an avenue to give recognition and pay tribute to extra ordinary women with extra ordinary roles especially in the fight against Trafficking and other GBV cases in Caraga.

For this year’s WOMENtum 2023, the RIACAT-VAWC, as part of their #JuanaBidaKaSaCaraga campaign, invited “BAKAS” or the Bangon Kababayen-ang Surigao Association to recognize their efforts as role models and volunteers in providing relevant social services in their community.

Aside from the BAKAS, the committee also invited its partner agencies to present relevant topics about self-care, resiliency, mental health, and to also educate these women on RA 11313 or the Bawal Bastos Law. ###(Social Marketing Section/DSWD Field Office Caraga).
