One of the components of the Strategic Helpdesks for Information, Education, Livelihood and other Developmental interventions (SHIELD) Against Child Labor Project is the conduct of capability building to its beneficiaries.
Hence, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, in partnership with Technical Education and Skills Development (TESDA) Caraga successfully conducted a 3-day community-based training to the SHIELD beneficiaries on March 7 to March 9, 2023 at Brgy. Doongan, Butuan City.
Participants of the said training are the families of identified Child Laborers in the city. They have learned different food processing techniques such as how to make banana chips and also undergone sessions for Nail Care Services and Foot Spa.
SHIELD Against Child Labor Project aims to withdraw children from the worst forms of child labor through the provision of holistic and immediate interventions at the community level. This project was developed to comply with RA 9231, and contribute to the removal of one (1) million children from child labor by 2025 as committed in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Philippine Program against Child Labor (PPACL). ###(Social Marketing Section/DSWD Field Office Caraga).
