Centenarian Program Focal Person Middes B. Jamen emphasized the efforts of the family in taking good care of the centenarians moreover the efforts of respective Local Social Welfare Development Offices (LSWDO) of each municipality for the help they extended to the families during the validation.
The Field Office encourages families of senior citizens to file the requirements to LSWDOs, for endorsement to avail of the program, at least 2 years before the senior citizen turns 100.
The Centenarian Program through Republic Act 10868 otherwise known as the Centenarians Act of 2016 entitles all Filipinos who reach 100 years old and above, whether living in the Philippines or abroad, a letter of felicitation from the President of the Philippines, a posthumous certificate of recognition if the beneficiary is deceased, and a “centenarian gift” worth Php 100,000.
