It is also known as a non-contributory pension. It is a regular cash transfer to older people. It provides a monthly stipend of Php 500 to indigent senior citizens as mandated by Republic Act 9994 or the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010. This is given to augment the daily subsistence and other medical needs of senior citizens.
Objectives:
- To improve the living condition of eligible indigent senior citizens
- To augment capacity of indigent senior citizens to meet their daily subsistence and medical requirements
- To reduce incidence of hunger among indigent senior citizens
- To protect indigent senior citizens from neglect, abuse, or deprivation
SCOPE / COVERAGE
The Social Pension for indigent senior citizens is implemented in all regions including Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), It considers the following priorities:
- Frail, sickly, or with disability
- Without pension from GSIS, SSS, AFPMBAI and other insurance company
- No permanent source of income or regular support from his/her relatives 77 years old and above (priority age)
