The team received their certificates on the last day of the week-long activity.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, together with the Disaster Response Management Bureau (Central Office) and the Regional Disaster Response Committee (RDRC), successfully concluded the Emergency Shelter Assistance Monitoring in Burgos and General Luna, Surigao del Norte (Siargao Island).

In the pursuit of expediting the monitoring, the team utilized the KoboCollect application, an open-source data collection tool that can be used offline.

One of the households monitored and assessed during ESA monitoring in Burgos, Surigao del Norte.

The monitoring aims to ensure the effectiveness of ESA implementation and assess the impacts of the assistance provided to the ESA recipients, which are Odette-affected families in the said municipalities. Typhoon Odette hit Siargao Island on December 20, 2021, and damaged the houses of the residents on the island.

The KoboCollect application was used in data gathering during the entire duration of the monitoring.

The activity culminated with the giving of certificates to the participants. As vice chair for disaster response, the Department will continue to lead the response cluster and effectively spearhead the government’s disaster response operations.
