An agency that crosses rivers, climbs mountains, and leaves no stone unturned to extend help to the poverty-stricken areas in Caraga Region: this is how the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) continue to serve the communities through the KALAHI-CIDSS program.
Recently, the Agency conducted an Inauguration and Turn-over ceremony of a Concrete Pathway project in Barangay Calabuan, Esperanza, Agusan del Sur. And even with the challenges encountered in travelling to and from the area, the KALAHI-CIDSS team were all smiles seing the joy in the face of the beneficiaries who received the community sub-project.
The Concrete Pathway is intended for the Indigenous Peoples (IP) who have difficulties in traversing to and from their barangay. Children and parents have difficulties going to their school, especially when it rains. A total of Php1,467,867 sub-project grant from KALAHI-CIDSS, with a counterpart from the BLGU was able needed to finish the Concrete Pathway. 107 household-beneficiaries in the Higaonon community will be able to make the most out of the project. Moving forward, the Higaonon tribe promised to take care of the sub-project and maintain it for the generations to come.
The Kapit-Bisig Laban Sa Kahirapan- Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) will continue to hold-forth collaborative efforts to encompass the areas that needs the help of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
