Thirteen thousand eight hundred seven (13,807) families from the municipalities of the Province of Dinagat Islands, received Emergency Shelter Assistance (ESA) from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, on September 11-13, 2023.s
Php2,500 worth of assistance was given to each of the beneficiaries whose houses were partially damaged as Typhoon Odette hit the island.
“Salamat sir”, was the short yet profound response of Charlita Geanag, 80 years old, Roxas, Basilisa, PDI, as she received assistance from DSWD Field Office Caraga.
ESA aims to ensure access to basic amenities and necessary support for disaster-affected families like Nanay Charlita.
In the municipality of Basilisa, distinguished guests from the DSWD Central Office Ma. Theresa Bas and Maegan Zeresh Monsanto joined the event with Disaster Resilience Chairperson and District Representative Alan 1 Ecleo and Basilisa Mayor Ozzy Reuben Ecleo.
Moreover, DSWD Field Office Caraga Regional Director Mari-Flor Dollaga visited the payout venue in Libjo, PDI, on the second day of the payout, September 12, 2023.
Dir. Dollaga seeks to assess the efficacy and effectiveness of the assistance distribution process and to boost the morale of the staff as she expresses appreciation for their efforts.
On the 3rd leg of the Emergency Shelter Assistance (ESA) payout in Dinagat and Cagdianao, the payout was graced by DSWD Field Office Caraga Director Mari-Flor Dollaga and staff from the Disaster Response Management Bureau of DSWD Central Office, Ma. Theresa Bas, Maegan Zeresh Monsanto. Also present are DRMD Division Chief Melanie Juan, Provincial Administrator Dennis Marie Delgado, Congressional District Head Recci Bacolor, Vice Mayor Petnel Sombrado (Dinagat), and Dinagat and Cagdianao MSWD Officers.
“Kami po nagpasalamat sa inyong tanan kay kamong tanan naghatag inspirasyon sa amo nga ipadayon ang serbisyong totoo, serbisyong dekalidad at serbisyong may puso [We thank all of you because you all inspire us to keep extending true service, quality service, and providing service with a heart]”, Dir. Dollaga said in her message.
Along with other vital programs, the Department will continue to support and provide assistance to the poor, vulnerable, and disadvantaged individuals, including disaster-affected ones.
