In its continuous effort to capacitate and uplift the living conditions of the poor, vulnerable, and disadvantaged communities in the region, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), held a ceremonial check turnover to SLP associations in the province of Surigao del Sur on Tuesday, October 17, 2023.

The said check amounting to PhP51,639,000 was turned over to the province and divided among 138 associations organized under the program, which the associations will use to establish their proposed livelihood projects.

Aside from the check turnover, the Program also handed over accreditations to these associations, signifying their status as registered civil society organizations under the DSWD.

OIC-Asst. Regional Director for Operations Jean Paul Parajes and Vice Governor Manuel Alameda, Sr led the ceremonial check turnover and distribution of accreditations. Municipal mayors, representatives, external partners, and local social welfare officers joined them.

SLP is a capacity-building of the Department that aims to improve the socio-economic status of poor, vulnerable, and marginalized communities by increasing the productivity of their livelihood assets and resources and helping them maintain thriving livelihood activities.
