BUTUAN CITY – With the theme, “Honoring the Invaluable Legacy of the Filipino Senior Citizens,” the Regional Inter-Agency Committee on Senior Citizens (RIAC-SC) headed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office (FO) Caraga celebrated the Elderly Filipino Week last October 1-6, 2023.
The activities for the elderlies kick-started with the annual Walk For Life—Simba, Zumba, Sigla at Saya, where the senior citizens walked, danced, and worshipped at SM Butuan City, Sunday, October 1, 2023.
Yearly, this activity aims to encourage everyone to celebrate the week with utmost enthusiasm to show love and support to older people, reinforcing their significance and valuable contributions to the community.
As the week unfolded, the National Commission of Senior Citizens, in collaboration with the Regional Inter-Agency Committee on Senior Citizens (RIAC-SC), formally opened the Information Caravan One Stop Shop for Senior Citizens at SM Mall Cinema Lane and SM Events Center.
Elderlies were formally introduced to NCSC through a run-through orientation on its thrusts and priorities as the transition of programs to the commission is on the move.
Moreover, Field Office Caraga took the opportunity to shed light on the Centenarian Program, hoping to inspire the elderly audience to live a healthy lifestyle. Furthermore, PhilHealth, the Department of Health (DOH), and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) discussed salient services and advocacies of their agencies that serve the best interests of senior citizens.
NCSC Honors DSWD Field Office Caraga
The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) honors the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office (FO) Caraga for its support and collaboration that contributed to the success of the Elderly Filipino Week Celebration 2023 during the culmination of the celebration at Robinsons Mall, Butuan City last October 6, 2023.
With this, DSWD Field Office Caraga further extended its respect and thanks to the members of the Regional Inter-agency Committee on Senior Citizens (RIAC-SC) for the continued efforts to honor the invaluable legacy and to ensure the welfare of the Caraga Region’s elderly.
As the week of celebration ended, RIAC-SC reinforced its commitment to continue the collective effort for the security and empowerment of senior citizens.
