Surigao City, Philippines – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga took the lead in hosting the National Center Management Training, spearheaded by the Program Management Bureau (PMB) of DSWD Central Office. The week-long training, which ran from March 18 to 22, 2024, convened Center Management Heads and Regional Coordinators from Bicol, Visayas, and Mindanao Regions.

With an aim to address various issues and concerns in managing the Centers and Residential Care Facilities (CRCF), the training focused on enhancing the quality of services provided to residents and clients. It emphasized the development of competencies, skills, and knowledge of managers by bolstering the workforce’s capacities in administrative and case management realms.

This significant initiative reflects the commitment of DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian to elevate the standards and efficiency of CRCFs across the country. Secretary Gatchalian aims to identify existing gaps within the workforce and bridge them through practical and effective solutions. By doing so, the DSWD endeavors to further its mission of providing comprehensive and compassionate care to those in need.

Throughout the training program, participants engaged in rigorous discussions, workshops, and skill-building exercises tailored to their roles within CRCFs. Topics covered included effective leadership strategies, case management best practices, and the implementation of standardized protocols to ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery.

The training also served as a platform for networking and knowledge exchange among participants, enabling them to learn from each other’s experiences and perspectives. By fostering collaboration and camaraderie, DSWD aims to cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the sector.

As the training concluded, participants expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge. They affirmed their commitment to implementing the lessons learned in their respective CRCFs, thereby contributing to the overall improvement of social welfare services in the Philippines.

Moving forward, DSWD remains steadfast in its mission to empower individuals and communities, particularly the most marginalized and disadvantaged sectors of society. Through initiatives such as the National Center Management Training, the department continues to strive towards its vision of a more inclusive and equitable society for all Filipinos.
