The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office (FO) Caraga celebrates World Day Against Child Labor (WDACL) 2024, June 12, 2024.
The celebration is spearheaded by the chair of the Regional Committee Against Child Labor, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). DSWD FO Caraga, as member of the committee, through the Strategic Help Desks for Information, Education, Livelihood, and Other Developmental Interventions (SHIELD) Against Child Labor, remains committed to advocating and acting on the plight against child labor.
SHIELD Against Child Labor extended financial assistance of Php2,000.00 each to 120 parents of former child laborers on top of the rice, vitamins, school kits, tumblers, and lunch bags extended by the members of the RCACL.
In her message, Protective Services Division (PSD) Chief Jessie Catherine Aranas reiterated the importance of partnership amongst government agencies in delivering services especially for the welfare of the children—true to this year’s theme, Bawat Bata, Malaya: Mithiin ng Nagkakaisang Bansa—extending gratitude to DOLE for the opportunity to exercise the commitment to social protection.
Furthermore, Aranas reminded parents present of their role in the lives of their children and in the plight towards ending Child Labor.
As the nation commemorates our independence day, DSWD Field Office Caraga remains steadfast in its mission to secure the freedom of our nation’s children from the chains of child labor.
