2 teens have drowned at the Barangay Labnig, Talacogon, Agusan del Sur (AdS) part of the Agusan River on February 10, 2024 after a 5.9 quake, which hit the area (epicenter was in Esperanza, AdS), caused the boat they were in to capsize due to undulation of waves created by the earth’s shaking.
With this, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga proactively responded with the incident by coordinating with the Local Government Unit of Talacogon, AdS to provide necessary support to the affected families.
DSWD Field Office Caraga Director Mari-Flor Dollaga personally paid a courtesy visit to Municipal Mayor Pauline Marie Masendo to harmonize the provision of assistance to the families of Jhon Paul Sabuya and Mark Daniel Mondejar (victims of the incident) through the LGU.
Provisions from the Field Office includes family food packs, and cash assistance, which Dir. Dollaga personally handed over on February 13, 2024, to the Sabuya and Mondejar family, and to Justine Noja, the lone survivor of the incident. The Field Office also provided psychosocial first aid (PFA) to Noja, and the families of the victims.
