A total of 1,142 beneficiaries from San Agustin and Tandag, Surigao del Sur received Family Food Packs (FFPs) in exchange for their participation in community service activities as part of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga’s Food-for-Work (FFW) initiative.
Thirty-seven of these beneficiaries are members of the Badjao Indigenous People (IP) community in Tandag, Surigao del Sur.
The beneficiaries actively engaged in community-driven efforts such as drainage de-clogging, road clearing, gardening, and coastal clean-up to enhance public safety and environmental sustainability. Their work not only improved local infrastructure but also contributed to the town’s disaster preparedness and cleanliness.
The Agency’s FFW initiative provides short-term food assistance and temporary employment to vulnerable and disadvantaged communities in exchange for their community service.
