The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), in collaboration with the World Bank, organized a Training of Trainers on Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship to promote youth development. This is in recognition of the importance of teaching financial literacy to the youth to boost their financial resilience.
San Luis in Agusan del Sur has been chosen as the pilot area for the implementation of the Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship through Youth Development Sessions. These sessions are being conducted at Cecilia National High School in Barangay Cecilia from August to November 2024, involving forty (40) 4Ps senior high school students.
The kick-off event was held on August 27, 2024, at the Barangay Gymnasium of Barangay Cecilia. It was attended by representatives from the Local Government Unit, including Executive Secretary Racquel Reveche (Mayor’s Office), Municipal Tourism/Local Youth Development Officer Nelmar Gomez, and Public School District Incharge Bet Cheba Prochina from the Department of Education.
Also present were the School Head of Cecilia National High School, Shiona Cabonilas, San Luis SK Federation President Anwar Rivera, Barangay Captain Erlinda Monte, 4Ps Parent Leaders, and 4Ps beneficiaries.
The 4Ps Regional Program Management Office, led by Division Chief Crislea Celeste, showed strong support for the pilot implementation. During the event, Assistant Regional Program Management Coordinator Jehmymah Moscatiles praised the partners’ commitment and dedication. Additionally, Family Development Session Focal Person and Sectoral Development and Advocacy Section Head Analiza Navia provided an overview and objectives of the said endeavor.
