A total of 366 households from Carmen, Agusan del Norte officially graduated from the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) today, marking a significant milestone in their journey toward self-sufficiency. The graduation took place at the Katumanan 2024 Graduation and Exit Ceremony, which was held at the Rama Gymnasium in Población Carmen. These households, once beneficiaries of the 4Ps program, have successfully achieved a Self-Sufficient Level of Well-being and have now exited the program, marking the end of their financial dependence on government aid.

The graduates were recognized for their hard work and commitment to lifting themselves out of poverty. In a speech delivered during the ceremony, Crislea Celeste, the 4Ps Regional Program Coordinator from DSWD Field Office Caraga, extended her congratulations to the graduates. She acknowledged their efforts in reaching the Self-Sufficient Level of Well-being, a milestone that indicates they no longer require financial assistance from the government to meet their basic needs.

Celeste also assured the graduates that while they are exiting the program, they will continue to receive support from DSWD and its partners through various social services. She highlighted the importance of the foundational Family Development Sessions (FDS), which will be offered to the graduates as part of an ongoing effort to ensure their long-term sustainability. The FDS provides valuable information on financial literacy, parenting, and other life skills that are critical in maintaining self-sufficiency.
Vice Mayor Jovitte Cabrera Calo, who represented Mayor Ramon Mendezona Calo, attended the ceremony and delivered a message of support and encouragement to the graduates. Also in attendance was Cielo Chenille Garate, the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer (MSWDO), who commended the graduates for their dedication to improving their lives. She assured the graduates that the local government, in partnership with DSWD, will continue to provide necessary assistance to help them sustain their progress.
As these 366 households step into the next phase of their journey, the Katumanan ceremony serves as a reminder of the transformative power of government programs like 4Ps. The program’s success in Agusan del Norte highlights the importance of collaborative efforts between the government, local officials, and community members in fostering sustainable development and long-term well-being.The graduates now join the ranks of former 4Ps beneficiaries across the country who have demonstrated that with access to proper resources, education, and support, families can break the cycle of poverty and achieve self-sufficiency. The DSWD, through initiatives like the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, continues to serve as a catalyst for positive change, ensuring that Filipinos are empowered to build brighter futures for themselves and their families.
