The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga on December 20, 2024, awarded Lola Ordanita Baarde of Bayugan City, Caraga’s last senior citizen to reach 100 years old in 2024.
Lola Ordanita received a Php100,000 cash gift from the national government through the Centenarian Program, as mandated by Republic Act 10868, the Centenarians Act of 2016, in celebration of her 100th birthday. She also received a Certificate of Recognition from the Field Office and a Letter of Felicitation from the President of the Philippines.
Protective Services Division (PSD) Chief Jessie Catherine Aranas congratulated Lola Ordanita and her family, and expressed appreciation to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Bayugan City for their ongoing support to senior citizens. Aranas also commended Bayugan City for replicating the Centenarian Program locally, as the LGU will provide Lola Ordanita with an additional Php100,000.
The DSWD Field Office Caraga extends its congratulations to all 21 centenarians awarded in 2024 and thanks them for their century of contributions to their communities.
Furthermore, the Field Office bids good luck and all the best to the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) who will be implementing the Centenarian Program in 2025 onwards.
