Several key stakeholders of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) in the Caraga region reaffirmed their vital commitments and support to the program during the series of SLP Project Pag-usbong Provincial Consultative Partnership Dialogues held from May 7 to 9 across the provinces of Surigao del Sur, Surigao del Norte, and Agusan del Sur.

Program partners from various national government agencies (NGAs), local government units (LGUs), non-government organizations (NGOs), the private sector, and academic institutions pledged a diverse array of strategic and impactful interventions. Among these are skills training initiatives to be conducted by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), aquaculture training by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), and the streamlining of documentary requirements for SLPAs to be facilitated by other NGAs and private organizations, among other valuable forms of support.

Additionally, the local products of SLP participants are expected to be showcased in various LGU-led bazaars across the region. This initiative not only promotes local entrepreneurship but also provides market exposure and income-generating opportunities, helping to strengthen participants’ livelihoods and expand their customer reach.

“These and other meaningful forms of support are instrumental in empowering our participants and advancing the goals of the program. They significantly strengthen our efforts and will undoubtedly be key to achieving our mission,” said SLP Caraga Regional Partnership Officer Antonio Semporios, Jr.

The consultative dialogue with partners aligns with the new SLP guidelines, which aim to strengthen collaboration and deepen the program’s engagement with stakeholders. By fostering stronger partnerships, the SLP seeks to enhance the delivery and effectiveness of its programs and services for its participants.

“Your commitments allow us to expand livelihood opportunities for our participants, paving the way for sustainable income, economic empowerment, and an improved quality of life,” Semporios added.

The first leg of the provincial consultative dialogues began in the Province of Dinagat Islands last April and is set to conclude in Agusan del Norte in the coming weeks. A new round of engagements is scheduled for the next semester, focusing on evaluating the progress of ongoing interventions and exploring additional opportunities to further enhance the program’s implementation throughout the region.
