The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through its Standards Section, has conducted a series of monitoring visits to Social Welfare and Development Agencies (SWDAs) operating in Siargao Island.Among the agencies visited were Tropical Academy in Barangay Pilar, San Isidro, Hope for the Island Incorporated in Barangay Poblacion, Burgos, and SunCrew Inc. (Wemars Surf Shop) in Barangay Pacifico, San Isidro.
These agencies have previously received technical assistance from the Standards Section to support their operations.
The monitoring focused on verifying the validity and presence of the agencies’ registration, licensing, and accreditation; the three key components required for SWDA operations. In addition, DSWD Caraga staff assessed the agencies’ compliance with their respective Manuals of Operations, staff benefits, installation of Organizational Structure, Vision-Mission-Goals (VMG), and other organizational requirements.
These efforts aim to ensure that the SWDAs are delivering quality social welfare services by DSWD standards and regulations.
