Butuan City – In celebrating the 36th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week, with the theme “Talino at Paninindigan: Pasaporte sa Kaunlaran”, the Listahanan of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) values the role of the Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the society.  Listahanan has an available data of poor families who have members with disability.

In Caraga region, there are 12,636 poor families with members who are challenged either physically or mentally. The highest number of single type of disability involves orthopaedic cases. This is followed by persons with visual impairment and mental disability.

Based on the Listahanan database, among all the provinces, Surigao del Sur has the most number of PWDs followed by Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Norte, and lastly Dinagat Islands.

DSWD Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman assured that PWDs are not left behind in the nation’s inclusive growth by benefitting from various programs and services of the Department.

“I urged the Local Government Units (LGUs) and partner agencies in development to utilize Listahanan databank as the basis of planning and implementing their programs and services,” she emphasized.

Listahanan is an information system that identifies who and where the poor are with the tagline “Talaan ng Pamilyang Nangangailangan.” ### Social Marketing Unit/DSWD FO Caraga.
