Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur – One of the highlights of the celebration of 13th Angot Festival is the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program and Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) day on September 26, 2014 at the Municipal Area.
About five thousand (5,000) Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries witnessed the festivity in which SLP-Grassroots Participatory Budget (GPB) check turnover worth Php 5,074,500.00 marked the event.
Pantawid Pamilya – SLP Day is being conducted in order to raise awareness in the locality on the programs and services of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in combating poverty.
This is the first time that this activity is being held and tossed by the Local Government Unit (LGU) by including it during town fiesta. Check turnover is part of the awareness initiative about the poverty reduction efforts of the government and to showcase the output of the grassroots participatory planning budgeting in funding the Civil Society Organization (CSO) –LGU proposed projects to be implemented by them.
A total of One thousand twenty-five (1,025) Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries will benefit the projects. The following are the SLP-GPB projects; Additional Livelihood Assistance for the Micro-Lending of Senior Citizens (30 beneficiaries) worth Php 127,500.00, Livelihood Assistance for Marginalized Sectors (850 beneficiaries) worth Php 4,122,500.00, Livelihood Assistance for Out of School Youth (OSY) – Automotive Servicing (24 beneficiaries) worth Php 229,500.00, Cosmetology Livelihood Project of Pantawid Parent Leaders (21 beneficiaries) worth Php 272,000.00, Water Refilling Station of Persons With Disabilities (PWD) this is an additional capital worth Php 127,500.00, and Crisis Center for Women and Children Facilities at Brgy. Poblacion (70 beneficiaries) worth 195,500.00
“DSWD will continue helping those who are marginalized and vulnerable,” DSWD Regional Director Minda B. Brigoli said. “SLP is one of the answers so that our lives will improve. Let us strive hard to increase our income so that our families will enjoy the gift of life,” Brigoli added.

SLP aims to improve the socio-economic capacity of the poor through a capacity building program that will develop the personal, social entrepreneurial and technical skills of the poor households from the selected LGUs identified and approved by the Human Development and Poverty Reduction Cluster (HDPRC) and the Good Governance and Anti-Corruption Cluster (GGAC) under the EO No. 43 series 2011 by enabling them to manage sustainable microenterprises in order to enhance their access to basic social services and improve their standard of living. Their projects were identified by the joint undertaking by the CSO and LGU in the area to be implemented by either the participating agency (DSWD) or by the LGU of the CSO concern proposing.
