Buenavista, Agusan del Norte-The Department of Social Welfare and Development Caraga conducted the Regional Search for Exemplary Child 2014 in preparation for the National Search to be held at Sequoia Hotel in Quezon City on October 22-26 this year.
The regional search was participated by all provinces in the region. Among those contenders who had gain a place in the said event were Dranrev Barselona from Buenavista, Agusan del Norte who ranked as the champion, Nathan Jabujab from Bislig City, Surigao del Sur and Leah Jane Burday from Esperanza, Agusan del Sur respectively.
The said event is in line with the National Children’s Month, with its theme, “Bata Kasali Ka, Ikaw ay Mahalaga” emphasizes the role of the children in nation building and reaffirming their rights as a child.
DSWD Caraga Regional Director Minda B. Brigoli expresses her support to the said activity by motivating every child to be role models in ways that is asked of them. “Our children are indeed the hope of our nation. They deserve to be nurtured and be afforded well with proper care and support by their parents and the community they belong,” Brigoli expressed.
This year’s Children’s Congress is driven to reach its objectives to determine the roles of the children beneficiaries in their homes, communities, and in nation-building through the positive changes (pagbabago) brought by Pantawid Pamilya; discuss the issues that directly affect the development of the children, specifically on health and education, through fun activities and workshops; and to transform the discussions during the workshops into creative outputs that will be presented as policy recommendations to the legislators and to the persons protecting the welfare of the children.
Now, Caraga is preparing its contenders by ways of mentoring them so they could participate well in the said event.###SocialMarketingUnitDSWDCaraga###.
