Butuan City- The municipalities of Remedios T. Romualdez, Kitcharao, and Jabonga, in Agusan del Norte recently completed its 2014 implementation of the peace and development projects which amount to Php 13,284,156.00 funded by the PAyapa at MAsaganang PamayaNAn (PAMANA).
These PAMANA projects were facilitated by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and coursed through the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan- Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services- National Community-Driven Development Program (KALAHI CIDSS- NCDDP) since the implementation incorporated the Community-Driven Development (CDD) approach.
Among the completed sub-projects in RTR and Jabonga include grouted riprap drainage canal, multi-purpose building, level II water system gravity-driven, electric power street lights, concrete pavement solar dryer, and concreting of barangay road.
In Kitcharao, being a flood-prone area, all barangays implemented construction of drainage canals.
Regional Director Minda B. Brigoli disclosed that at least 4, 168 households in Agusan del Norte are now benefiting the said community projects.
For 2014 implementation, DSWD Caraga targets completion of 180 sub-projects under PAMANA.
“To date, 174 sub-projects are already completed while 6 more are expected to be completed before the month of November ends,” Brigoli said.
PAMANA is the Philippine government’s program and framework for peace and development. Its implementation paves way for the poor, vulnerable, and conflict-affected areas to avail funds needed to respond to their identified priority needs. ###(Social Marketing Unit/DSWD Field Office Caraga)
