Butuan City – In line with the annual Women’s Month celebration observed every March, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Caraga conducted this year’s Korambusan on April 15, 2016 at the Field Office grounds, this city.
Participated by all the regional office-based staff, the Korambusan underscored how DSWD values the Women sector including those who belong to the poor, vulnerable, and disadvantaged sectors.
Part of the activity is the booth display of which each Division and Regional Program Management Offices (RPMOs) displayed different materials for garage sale.
Outdoor games and Quiz Bee were also played by the staff. These activities aim to encourage unity, camaraderie, and knowledge-deepening for the staff most especially those which concern the Women sector.
The whole day activity was spearheaded and facilitated by the Gender and Development (GAD) secretariat of the Field Office.
Regional Director MInda B. Brigoli said in her message that the celebration of the Women’s month highlights the empowerment of women in the national as well as in international agenda.
“While we are including the women’s concern in our development agenda, it is my desire that women’s welfare should always be prioritized especially along protection,” said Brigoli.
“Korambusan is DSWD-Caraga’s way to celebrate Women’s Month,” she added.
For this year, the celebration bears the theme, “Kapakanan ni Juana, Isama sa Agenda.
The theme resonates the call for gender-balance relationship and decision-making positions both in public and private sector; inclusion of women’s concerns in leadership platforms and the government’s development agenda; and capacitating and preparing women and girls to reach their ambitions.### (Social Marketing Unit/DSWD Field Office Caraga)
