BUTUAN CITY – For its second year implementation, the government’s anti-poverty project called Kalahi-CIDSS renewed its engagement with the local government unit (LGU) of Gigaquit, Surigao del Norte with two development projects underway.

Through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed last March 19, the LGU is set to implement two community-driven development projects: the “regular” three-year cycle of Kalahi-CIDSS and PAMANA for one year.

Both are community-driven development (CDD) anti-poverty projects implemented by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) that aim to empower communities.

The financial mechanism of Kalahi-CIDSS comprises a local counterpart contribution (LCC) scheme in which the LGU will receive a Kalahi-CIDSS grant of Php 5,850,000.00 and at the same time will provide a 30% LCC of Php 2,674,285.71 for infrastructure projects.

Three identified conflict-affected barangays (CABs) in the municipality will also receive a grant of Php 900, 000.00 from the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) for peace and development projects aimed at building resilient communities.

Kalahi-CIDSS stands for Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services while PAMANA stands for Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan. ### (Social Marketing Unit)
