Butuan City – A total of 80 young people started their first day of summer job through the Government Internship Program (GIP) in the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Caraga.
Thirty-four (34) of them are stationed in the regional office while the other 46 are deployed in the different local government units (LGUs) in the region.
According to Youth Sector Focal Person Genelyn Marturillas, the GIP beneficiaries will work for 22 days from 8:00 in the morning up to 5:00 in the afternoon and will receive a salary which amounts to 60% of the minimum wage per day.
“Sagad sa maong mga batan-on mga Out-of-School-Youth kon OSY, aduna usa’y pipila niini nagtungha nga nagpangidaron sa 18 ngadto sa 24, apan mga kabus (Some of these young people are identified as OSY, but some of whom are poor students ages from 18-24),” said Marturillas.
“Pinaagi niini, makat-onan sa mga batan-on ang insaktong office protocols sa mga ahensya, ang saktong pagtubag sa telepono, encoding ug uban pa nga ilang magamit ugma damlag sa ilang pagpanarbaho (With this, young people will learn the appropriate office protocols as well as encoding and other tasks in preparation for their future jobs),” she added.
The applicants for GIPs underwent three stages, namely, Initial Assessment, Actual Interview of Applicants, and Final Screening that were headed by the Youth focal person together with the composite members from various divisions/units/sections before selected to become beneficiaries of the said program.
The DSWD-Central Office allocated Php353, 760.00 for DSWD Field Office Caraga for the GIPs this year.
