The spirit of Bayanihan lives on as community volunteers of Sitio Bocbocon, Brgy. Durian, Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte gather and work together relentlessly notwithstanding the intense heat of the sun to build a road for easier transport and delivery of materials for the construction of the Tribal Center sub-project which will be implemented under Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan –Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS).
“Andam mi nga mupahina kung kinahanglan alang sa proyekto nga muabot, kay kini usa sa makapalambo ug makapreserba sa among kultura sa umaabot (We are ready to volunteer if need be for the sub-project because this is one way to promote and preserve our culture in the future),” says Carlito Manguanta, a Higaonon who serves as chairperson of the Barangay Sub-Project Management Committee in Sitio Bocbocon.
Kalahi-CIDSS is one of the programs of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) that is geared towards poverty alleviation. It uses the Community Driven Development (CDD) approach to address poverty in the country through empowering ordinary citizens to undertake their own development projects by actively and directly participating in local governance in identifying their own community needs as well as in planning, implementing, and monitoring sub-projects.
