BUTUAN CITY – The sixth year implementation of Poder, the anti-poverty program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) comes to a close as it inaugurated sub-projects in the Caraga region.
A total of 25 sub-projects are now seeing the light of day and ready to be used by the community especially beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilya.
With its slogan, Improving access to basic health and education services in the community, Poder 6 is catering the supply side of the conditional cash transfer program of the government.
Infrastructure buildings such as health stations, school buildings, and day care centers are now ready to serve those in need of educational and medical assistance in the barangays.
Four (4) municipalities in the region were earlier identified and these are: Sta. Josefa, Agusan del Sur; Tubajon, Province of Dinagat Islands; Sta. Monica, Surigao del Norte; and Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
The total grant that has been provided to these municipalities who availed of the project amounted to Php 19,492,192.04.
Poder is a special project of DSWD with funding from the Spanish government through the Agencia Española de Cooperacion Internacional para el Desarollo (AECID) and is implemented in Region III, Region V, and Caraga Region.
A regional year-end assessment and awarding ceremonies is slated on September 27-28 at Goat2geder Hotel and Restaurant, Butuan City to formally end the project and honor the volunteers and field workers. ### (Social Marketing Unit)
