BUTUAN CITY – Carrying out its mandate of Maagap at Mapagkalingang Serbisyo, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through the Kapit-Bisig Laban
sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) Caraga started the series of Municipal Talakayan for 2016 in Socorro, Surigao del Norte last October 11.
The said event with the theme: “Magsalino Kita Para sa Kalambuan”, was attended by Municipal Vice Mayor Dominador L. Taruc, Local Government officials, Barangay Captains, Civic Society Organizations (CSOs), and Kalahi-CIDSS community volunteers, and non-volunteers.
Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) officers and Sub-Regional Program Management Office (SRPMO) staff of Kalahi-CIDSS Caraga along with the Area Coordinating Team (ACT) of Socorro were also present in the said activity.
According to Edward John C. Ty, Regional Monitoring Evaluation Specialist of Kalahi-CIDSS Caraga, one of the primary objectives of the Municipal Talakayan is to assess the overall development of the municipality through increasing local stakeholders’ awareness of the municipal development status.
“The main purpose of this forum is to provide a venue for systemic face-to face feedback from stakeholders and draw insights from the data that we will be seeing today in our efforts to sustain continued local development,” Ty said.
The Municipal Talakayan is a Kalahi-CIDSS activity which brings together the Local Government Unit (Provincial/Municipal/Barangay) and the different stakeholders to discuss the development track of the municipality with the aid of the different data (more specifically data collected in the implementation of Kalahi-CIDSS and the Municipal Development Plan) to ensure that services and programs would be on point to address the real problems and identified development gaps in the grassroots level.
Twenty-five (25) municipalities in Caraga are also slated to conduct a Municipal Talakayan.
